Bubble Letters That Spell Happy

Phayao and Sukhothai

Early departure towards Chiang Rai. But to cut the road, we'll stop in Phayao after 5am bus. This time, the bus does not float and has air conditioning.

Phayao is a pleasant town near a large lake. Not a single tourist in sight, there are few Thai-speaking English, even at the hotel reception we have trouble communicating. The receptionist was panicking every time they came asking for information.

The downtown is ugly, it must be said, like all cities in Thailand. Grotty buildings and squares, not terrible odor at times, stray dogs, it is far from Bx. But as soon as one approaches the edge of the lake, it becomes much more enjoyable. The sunset over the lake is gorgeous. Mountains in the background, green vegetation, restaurants, picnic areas, it is almost like a city on the east coast of Australia.

In any case, the tourist must be rare, everyone stares at us and not quietly. We also saw what could be a breeding of Mekong giant cat fish. It is not our catfish, they can measure up 3m long.

The next morning we visited a temple at the lake. Great Buddha inside. An annex to the temple is situated directly on the lake. Superb.

We returned to Tuk-Tuk (this time it's a motorcycle with a side car ") to avoid the long road back to the hotel.

Directorate bus station, we go to Chiang Rai.
