We have two days to kill before starting the trek. Resolve to make a small turn in the Golden Triangle by us during these two days. We leave our big bags at the guesthouse in Chiang Rai and is preparing two small backpacks for the next two days. The price of the guesthouse, we can afford to pay both at the same ^ ^ time
The public transport bus
typically Thai (no leg room, you drive the doors open and you pray that the bus does not crash) Chiang Rai to Basang.
Can you take a song-ta-oo (a pickup whose rear is equipped to carry ten persons) of Basang to Mae Salong. Small detail fun, wait until the 8 participants-ta-oo song takes off. We stayed like idiots at a bar table for half an hour to hope that the next passing aboard with us to get the proper number of passengers. Finally it
left for 1.5h of mountain road, the road climbs and bends are severely sheaves. Since the song-ta-oo, we can not see the road very well, which does not help the problem, but the little that we can see the scenery is splendid.
We take our neighborhoods in our new guesthouse. Record-breaking 100 baht night or two euros. Lunch until the rain ends.
Trek Me
The manager of the guesthouse we pass a "map" to ourselves walking through the villages of hill tribes. The ride is fantastic, beautiful landscapes, mountains, rice fields, village Akha tribe, tribal village Lisu, and Chinese village.
It is a bit too hot and it climbs cons seriously. We had a rough time but it was worth it ... And we even lost!
Mae Salong
The city itself is nice. It is a village with a main road in the mountains, really peaceful. The village was founded by a Chinese army who fled to Thailand after the advent of Communist China (if everything was included). So everything is written in Chinese everywhere, the decoration of houses recalls China, and it is true that people have different facies than elsewhere in Thailand. Then we went to eat Chinese. And frankly it was disgusting, is the cook was well paid our head or it was execrable. In addition it was expensive ... It's over the crap, next time you eat Thai is always good.
The next morning we left. 8 passengers waiting for the song-ta-oo, bus to Chiang Saen Basang.
