Does Jeff Hardy Work Out

Mae Hong Son

Mae Hong Son is known for its beautiful temples, landscapes and surrounding villages (including village famous women long shot) . So we decide to face four hours of regular buses to the 120 km between Pai Mae Hong Son. We are always surprised by the slow transport. Here at least the bus has an excuse, this is mountain road (though it does not explain everything).

We go in hoping to find a city of small, isolated, more charming than the Thai cities classics. Arriving is disappointment because we find a lively city, heavy traffic and architecture as ugly as elsewhere.

However, on arriving at our Guest House we are surprised to admire the lake from the city and the wonderful temples. We spend the evening browsing the markets and admire the temples from the outside. These temples are different from those visited so far they have influence with Burma. The lighting and reflection on the lake we were delighted.

The next day we visited the temples more near as we could get into the museum one of them owns.

We then finished the day at a luxury resort that will be the next post.

After seeing the temples must confess that Mae Hong Son has very little to offer. We rented a scooter (there is a taste) to visit the villages and surrounding attractions. Once the scooter in hand we head North to follow a path Lonely Planet. Obviously, just ten minutes after the start of the monsoon is his and we are forced to take shelter at a bus stop. At this moment we have had a thought for the woman who rented the scooter who told us just before we left there was no reason to fear the rain. Ah, those Thai who are still too many to be sure they are buying something ...

After a good half-hour wait in our bus stop we hit the road, the big storm has passed. We cross the paddy fields, as well as they climb the mountains (the scooter was in trouble at times). We decide to go to Mae Saw (where the ride ends) and to visit points of interest in return. Obviously we had to make some stops because of rain. We still stopped at a royal palace where we saw large greenhouses and gardens but can not find the palace itself ...

arrived in Mae Saw, bordering Burma and our clients around the lake and admire the view. We encountered a guide who was happy to share his French vocabulary: "Sarkozy *** enc. Makes you wonder who was stupid enough to teach it to a Thai.

Once finished around the village we return to Mae Hong Son. On the way we stop at Pang Ung, where a lake is surrounded by mountains. Second stop at Pha Sua Waterfalls, impressive.

Finally, although the "Fish Cave" is not specifically recommended in Lonely Planet, we noticed that all tour operators about the visit. We have therefore chosen to make a detour to visit this incredible cave fish-vegetarian. On the way the road is beautiful.

arrived on site it is much less impressive as one could imagine. Instead of a cellar vault found near the River. From there, the guides organized tours throw a lot of vegetables that fish are a pleasure to eat. This "Fish Cave" is nothing more than fish fed daily at the same place. We were so disappointed that he forgot to take pictures.

The next day we enjoyed one last time in our scooter to visit a temple atop a hill and especially to admire the view over the valley.

Our stay in Mae Hong Son is terminated by a flight to Chiang Mai. Although

Mae Hong Son is known for its villages giraffe women we preferred not to participate in such tourism. Especially as the giraffe women are not of Thai origin businessman took the idea of "import" in Thailand. Entry into these villages is paid and from what we heard it's advantage of a zoo than a traditional village.
